The Rummikub group meets every Friday 3pm to 5pm at the Angel and Harp in Dunmow. Experienced players, beginners and learners are welcome. There is no charge but you can buy tea, coffee, drinks and snacks at the bar. Free parking is available in the pub car park.

Rummikub (pronounced “rummy cube“) is a tile-based game for 2 to 4 players, combining elements of other games such as rummy, canasta or Mah Jong. Players have 14 tiles initially and take turns putting down tiles from their racks into sets (groups or runs) of at least three tiles. A “group” is made up of tiles of all the same number but different colours. A “run” is made up of sequential numbers of the same colour. A player starts by making an initial meld of at least 30 points. Once this is done, they can play one or more tiles from their rack to make a new group or run; to add to an existing group or run; or to change groups or runs already laid on the table. If the player cannot go, they take an additional tile from the pool of tiles. The aim is dispose of all one’s tiles.
