Whether you are looking for opportunities to discover new interests, make new friends, visit places and events with like-minded people, get more exercise in a fun way or simply want a stimulating programme of local events, Dunmow u3a aims to provide it.
- Recreational, cultural and creative interest Groups, from Art to Wool and Waffle ... and practically every other letter in between!
- Outings to shows, exhibitions, gardens and sites of cultural, scientific or historical interest all over London and the South East
- Monthly Meetings with guest speakers ranging from ‘King Henry VIII’ to a genealogist from BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are?, and topics from Gamekeeping to Giggly Pigs
- Local events including quizzes, seasonal celebrations, concerts, wine tastings and more.

Dunmow u3a is a mutual-aid organisation that is run by and for its members. It is part of an exciting world-wide movement which provides opportunities for life-long learning at a minimal cost. Nationally there are more than 1,000 u3as, with around half a million members; in Dunmow we have over 750 members belonging to around 40 interest ➤Groups. Each is led by members themselves, who may be sharing an interest in which they have expertise, or simply organising a group who wish to learn together.
Great Dunmow in Essex was once the site of a Roman fort, burned down by Boudicca and her Iceni warriors in 70 AD. A market town since its charter in 1253, the town has been famous worldwide since mediæval times as the home of the Flitch Trials. See the story below.
