Family history is a complex subject and our current members have varying levels of experience. We are very much a self-help group that is focused on sharing knowledge. Our meetings are planned to include workshops on various aspects of family history research, talks by invited speakers who are experts in the field and help with problems members are finding such as “brickwalls”. In addition, members can talk about websites and courses they have found useful.

We hold our meetings once a month at The Maltings on Monday afternoons from 3.45pm until 5.30pm. Wi-Fi is available so we can all bring our computers/tablets when needed. We benefit from televisions in both rooms, which are much better for our talks and presentations. A small charge of £3 is made to cover the hire of the Maltings.

We meet on the 2nd Monday of every month. Our meeting dates for 2026 are as follows.

11 May - "Crime and Punishment in the 19th century" by visiting speaker, Dave Annal

14 September - "Special Collections and Projects" by visiting speaker, Kelly Cornwell
